Case Study - College magazine
Today in lesson, I had to find a front cover for a college magazine and write an analysis of it as we were looking at college magazines to help us plan our own version as it is a practice before we make our own magazines, however, it is still important to complete this task. However this was only a practice task so I only wrote about the front cover briefly.
Here is an older front cover of the American magazine called 'College'.
On the front cover, there is a person who is most likely to be a student. He is smiling to show positivity and that he is enjoying college. Also, he is holding books to show that he is a student himself. The skyline contains the magazine's slogan and the month and years the issue is from. The cover lines are to interest a college student with things such as "Thank God it's Friday's" and "College Couture". The masthead is at the top of the cover, below the skyline, in a sans-serif font, but the student hides some of the masthead, connoting that students are the priority for colleges. The 3 colour scheme is green/yellow, white and black. The font as I've already mentioned is sans-serifs to make the magazine seem casual, "cool" and friendly so the people who go to college want to read it.
